You Keep The Frankincense And Myrrh, I'll take the GOLD!

So here we are again ladies, it's that time of year and the festive season is upon us and the pressure is on to look our most fabulous and what better way than to adorn yourself in something gold and sparkly?

The dress I've chosen to showcase on this occasion is perfect for Christmas celebrations and for going somewhere a little special...

Isn't it beautiful? And you'll never guess where it's from...but I'll reveal all in a moment, here's a more close up picture of the bodice...

The beautiful beading detail makes this dress feel heavy and expensive, however, unbelievably this dress was only £80 from Peacocks (www.peacock.co.uk) which isn't somewhere I would usually buy from, but over the past few years they have been collaborating with super stylish Primrose Hill matriarch, Pearl Lowe (mother of the beautiful and equally stylish, Daisy) and producing some gorgeous vintage inspired pieces, particularly focusing on lace, satin and beading.

Now, back to the outfit, rather than my enthusiasm for Pearl Lowe's designs! As you can see, it's a full length gown, with a long column satin skirt, giving a formal 30's feel to it, needless to say, this dress is most definitely for somewhere special, a Christmas Ball perhaps?

To stick with the indulgent Christmas theme I've opted for a pair of muted gold shoes and handbag...

I love the diamante clutch with this dress, I think it's compliments it perfectly. My particular bag was a gift but I've seen many similar on the high street and Accessorize (www.accessorize.com)  is always fantastic for ornate and detailed pieces.

With regard to the shoes, I'm not 100% sold on these, although they look fine and are perfectly passable, they're a little bit too modern looking for my liking, I would have preferred a gold satin mary jane style shoe to complete the look fully, however, having an idea in one's head and actually finding it in a shop is, on occasion, just not possible!

To accessorise further with jewellery I would opt only for earrings and a bracelet, to add something around the neckline would be too fussy. Earrings wise, I would suggest a drop earring and including a pearl if possible, but whatever you find, make sure it's as equally glamorous as the dress! If you do try a bracelet this should also include a pearl but as opposed to the earring, be quite delicate, a chunky wrist piece would look plain wrong!

Now, I'm going to go that one little step further with accessories and suggest the hair in a loose and tousled bun of sorts with some kind of jewelled headpiece, either a hair slide or even forehead headdress, something like this beautiful piece below from bridal accessories company, Hermione Harbutt Jewellery (www.hermioneharbutt.co.uk) is ideal...

I absolutely adore this type of head piece and believe it's worth spending that little bit extra on something like this to take the outfit from special to eye catching and unique. It sometimes takes that extra little effort to create a showstopping outfit.

Another item I would indulge in is a faux fur cream shrug, tippet or wrap. Having just a quick look on the internet I came up with many suppliers, including www.lightinthebox.com who stock this gorgeous little number...
